SUMMARY:March Social and Networking Event
DESCRIPTION:Our guest speaker for this evening’s event is Richard Davies deBronkart Jr\, widely known as e-Patient Dave. \n \nHealthcare’s quest for patient engagement gets real\, radical – and entertaining – when “e-Patient Dave” takes the stage. This cancer survivor\, international keynote speaker\, author\, and patient advocate has actively engaged in opening health care information directly to patients on an unprecedented level. \nA year ago Dave transitioned involuntarily into the world of chronic conditions when he was diagnosed as pre-diabetic\, where self-tracking is essential. His hospital offers OpenNotes so he can see their data\, but his doctors have no way of viewing his data from his apps and trackers: he’s on his own! \nHis latest message to the healthcare establishment is “Failure to share data – both ways – makes medicine fall short.” Be among the first to hear why Dave is pushing harder than ever for patient data rights\, interoperability\, and integration of his own device data – and why the culture is changing so rapidly among patients\, caregivers\, and healthcare organizations. \nHis audiences have ranged from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement to the Danish Patient Safety Association and the Israel Internet Society. The National Library of Medicine is including his blog in its History of Medicine division\, and he was the Mayo Clinic’s 2015 Visiting Professor in Internal Medicine. His compelling TEDx Talk “Let Patients Help” was for years in the top half of most-watched TED talks of all time. He is the author of the highly rated Let Patients Help: A Patient Engagement Handbook and co-founder of the Society for Participatory Medicine. \nTwitter Hashtags: #WeAreNotWaiting and #GMDD \n\nEvent Sponsor \n  \n\n\nPremier Sponsors \n     \n   \n   \n\nCorporate Sponsors \n        \n              \n      \n  \n\nIn-kind Sponsors \n
