MassChallenge, a Boston-based startup accelerator program, on Wednesday began accepting applications for its programs in Boston, Jerusalem, Israel and London, and expects to attract more applicants this year than ever before.
This is the first time MassChallenge has offered its startup accelerator program in London, and the third year it has offered the program in Jerusalem.
Startups will compete for more than $1.5 million in Boston and about $760,000 in London, and an undisclosed amount in Jerusalem, where 10 startups will be chosen to participate in the program.
Applications for all three programs are open from Feb. 11 through April 1.
The startup accelerator is also launching a new division called MADE@, which is a 5,000 square-foot hardware and prototyping space in Boston’s Innovation and Design Building.
The division will provide entrepreneurs with expert training, equipment and office spaces with no equity taken, according to the program’s executives.
Gov. Charlie Baker attended MassChallenge’s applications launch party Wednesday.
“As a massive engine of job creation and economic growth, entrepreneurship makes Massachusetts great,” Baker said in a statement. “MassChallenge has an outstanding track record of attracting great startups and talent to the Commonwealth. The launch of MassChallenge UK and the success of MassChallenge Israel is proof that Massachusetts’ own unique brand of innovation is the standard for helping entrepreneurs launch and grow all over the world.”
More than 600 startups have participated in MassChallenge’s programs since 2010, and they have raised more than $706 million in funding and generated $404 million in revenue. They have also created 4,800 jobs, according to the program’s executives.
