Boston’s Oasys Water, which specializes in water treatment technology, struck a deal with a Chinese power company to purify waste water from a coal-fired plant, the company announced Tuesday.
Changzing Power Plant in Zhejiang province will use Oasys’ forward-osmosis “Zero Liquid Discharge” technology to clean and reuse water at the rate of 172,700 gallons of water per day. It could be in place by early 2015, the company said.
Oasys technology is already at work purifying chemical-rich water from the fracking of natural gas in the US.
