Do you and your firm need a reboot? 4 questions to get you back on track

Do you face a constant barrage of opportunities, problems and situations? You’re trying to understand why your sales force isn’t performing, why your quality isn’t good enough, or why your people aren’t taking more initiative. Then there are customer complaints about service, and what the marketplace is doing.

While all these feel like nagging problems or opportunities that are going unfulfilled, they’re really symptoms and distractions that keep you from focusing on what really matters and where you can really start to make things better or as best as you want them.

Think back to when computers would get hung up and we were all were taught to press the control, alt and delete keys simultaneously. What did that do? It caused the computer to reboot, clearing away all the distractions, extra programs and wasted memory, then created a clean and uncluttered computer you could use to get your work done.

Similarly, when you find yourself bombarded by these opportunities, problems and situations, I suggest that you press your own control, alt and delete keys to reboot you and your company around what really matters.

If you feel you or your firm are just going through the motions, your customers, employees and vendors most surely feel the same. If so, you must revive your firm by recharging its best and highest use (BHU).

The concept is simple. It is what you and your firm:

  • Like doing.
  • Are good at doing.
  • Have been valued by your market for doing.

Where do you start? Answer these four questions and put your company back on track:

  1. What do you sell beyond the products and services your website says?
  2. What do your customers buy from you in addition to what they their purchase orders and buyers demand?
  3. Where are you over-delivering and undercharging for your BHU?
  4. Where are you under-delivering and overcharging for your BHU?

With objective answers from your staff and customers, you can return to what you should be doing, whom you should be doing it for and for what outcome your customers need. Simply do so, and you will recharge your Best and Highest Use!
