Come and get it. Vecna Technologies is offering office space in Alewife for young robotics companies who are looking for room.

The location is 35 Cambridge Park Drive in Alewife, a building that once housed Pfizer’s offices, and is adjacent to Vecna’s headquarters in North Cambridge. Vecna has owned the building for about a year, and bought it after Pfizerannounced a move to Kendall Square in 2013.

About 40,000 square feet of space at the rate of is up for grabs, at a rate of $45 per square foot. Startups who move in will also have access to Vecna’s regular office amenities (Wi-Fi, coffee, yoga room) and also its machine shop and indoor and outdoor testing spaces for robots and drones.

Theobald talks often about his vision for a support center for Massachusetts entrepreneurs starting robotics companies, and has been active in establishing the trade group MassRobotics as a means to that end.

Like Greentown Labs in Somerville, which offers room to energy ventures, or Kendall’s LabCentral, which rents lab and office space to young biotech companies, the goal is that MassRobotics will be a nesting spot for robotics companies looking to make it big.

MassRobotics incorporated in the spring and assembled its board this summer. While the board deliberates on a location for the incubator, Theobald said Vecna’s space will be available immediately.
