Marketing an event year-round whose tagline is “music’s biggest night” would likely be a challenge for any experienced marketer. But that’s exactly what Evan Greene, chief marketing officer for the Grammy Awards is in charge of.

Greene will be offering insights related to how he leverages technology, big data and social media to keep the Grammy Awards relevant during the other 364 days out of the year at Boston’s annual FutureM tech and marketing conference in September.

Greene, who has been chief marketing officer for The Recording Academy and the Grammy Awards for the past 11 years, will talk about creating meaningful interactions by harnessing big data, and how digital presence and social media play important roles in marketing, said Amy Quigley, president of the Massachusetts Innovation and Technology Exchange, which hosts the FutureM event.

The event, to be held from Sept. 16 to 18 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, will also feature 12 distinct “content tracks” comprising three sessions each, with topics ranging from e-commerce and mobile to startups and innovation.

Several speakers will be visiting from outside of New England, Quigley said. Those include Penry Price, vice president of global sales and marketing solutions for California-based LinkedIn.

Quigley anticipates about 2,500 people will attend the event, up from about 2,000 last year. She expects this year’s FutureM event to draw in attendees from all over the country.

“The goal is to draw people in on a national level because we think Boston has a lot of great stuff happening here and we want to share it with the country,” she said. “We don’t want it to be a private conversation.”

This year’s FutureM event will be hosted in conjunction with Cambridge-based inbound marketing firm HubSpot’s marketing conference, INBOUND. Keynote speakers at that conference include Malcolm Gladwell and Martha Stewart.

Attendees can buy tickets at $650 each by visiting the event’s website. Boston Business Journal readers can enter promo code FUTUREMBBJ to get a 20 percent discount on tickets through Aug. 15.

Last year’s FutureM event hosted panels where tech execs talked about trends in marketing, data and mobile and young CEOs said entrepreneurs should learn from others’ mistakes.
